Felicia Fields, Ford group vice president, Human Resources
and Corporate Services, is a third-generation Ford employee. She started with
the company as a summer intern. Something that has continued to drive Fields in
her career is how Ford makes its employees feel: “We’re committed to creating a
respectful, inclusive environment for all. To respect, appreciate, include and
listen is a way of thinking. It’s a way of being,” said Fields.
This is exemplified through the focus on diversity and
inclusion, which comes in many forms, including outreach, mentoring programs
and cultural-awareness initiatives. It’s the backbone of what gives the Ford
culture a family feeling and breeds a team mentality – even for a global
company with employees located all over the world.
Ford has had a long commitment to fostering diversity and
inclusion, and currently has 10 Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) that support
more than 10,000 employees worldwide and play an integral role in supporting
diversity and inclusion efforts.
One such ERG is the Professional Women’s Network, a group
dedicated to the development of women in business. In celebration of
International Women’s Day, the group is bringing together a panel of women from
Ford and other global companies to share how women are breaking barriers
through innovation. “We hosted this event last year, and it’s truly inspiring,”
Fields explained. “Ford is a place where women’s voices – where all voices –
are heard.” A dedication to fostering an inclusive environment has truly
allowed Ford to be at the forefront of innovation, while caring about customers
and employees alike.
